EOTD-You Can Do Blue Too

I finally created my first look that I'm comfortable sharing. I'm so proud.

I figured that my first look should be an homage to my first real make-up endeavor.

True Story:
I was about 12 and I started playing in my mom's make-up. I was bored and figured someone ought to put it to use. The neutrals weren't really doing it for me, so I wanted something that popped. Full on 80's Blue!

Once again, I was beaming with pride and I went to show my mom my beautiful work. Her words, "Um, that's bright. Blue might now be the right color for you"

I was a pre-teen with attitude. I chalked it up her sipping on the hater-ade. In retrospect, I'm certain she was right.

So now its time to show her blue done right!

Is my hair ok?

Ok, I'm ready now!

How many weird faces can I make?

Many weird faces, you only see two :)

MUFE 92

My first make-up post! Woah...

MUFE 92 has somewhat of a cult following among my lovely blogger ladies. Every time I see it used in a look I get all antsy and ignore where it will fit in my growing collection. So during my Spring Break trip, I took a trip to my personal Mecca (Sephora). I look at the MUFE display and lo and below, there is one single 92 eyeshadow.

I get home and swatch it...I'm no longer in love. I don't understand, many-a-time, I've swatched it and swooned. As I further investigate this phenomenon, I take a closer look at my box and what does it say: Powder Blush 92.

Le Sigh...I'm not quite certain that I still have the receipt for this and I'm not quite sure when the next time I'm going home is. Way to pull the wool over my eyes...lol. I should have known better. I don't really like the Sephora by my house, the displays are always so messy. I prefer the one downtown in my beloved WaterTower. But know that I've gotten used to driving everywhere and I spend my time in the burbs, it just doesn't seem like worth the hassle.

I'll keep you guys updated.

"Starter" Pics

I'm a horrible blogger. ::shakes finger at myself::

I don't really know to work my camera to capture my best make-up looks. And lately I've been doing a lot more with my hair than my make-up. But I did some hauls, sooo...I'll post maybe tomorrow? ;)

But back to my "starter" pics. I have starter in quotations because I've been on my journey since approximately November. But here it is:

This was taken on my birthday (February 10). Since this time, I've done a pretty decent job growing my hair and retaining length. In May, I will get another relaxer and post another status pic. I really hope that at that point I will be at APL.

Suggestions needed: How can I take better progress pics? I don't think posing with my arms above my head is the best depiction of my actual length. I tried having my roommate take them, but she just can't get it right [One pic she took, she didn't even get my all my hair, lol]

Introductions and Mixing Magic

My name is Lesley and this is my blog about (healthy) hair care and beauty. I've been lurking on beauty blogs and hair care forums for months now and I'm ready to share and give everyone my perspective.

For reference, I am:
4a/b relaxed, thick and coarse strands
I relax approx. every 10-12 weeks with a stylist
Hair goals: APL (May 2009)
Regimen: TBA
MAC: NC 45

Anyway, I'm a product junkie. I would like to say that I'm in rehab, but I'm not quite there yet. But...I'm on the road to recovery, I'm working on using up the tons of product in my cabinet and really only buying samples of things that I'm not certain about or staples.

So I bought two sample packs of Silk Elements Luxury Moisturizing Conditioner. I'll be honest, two samples was not enough for my hair thickness AND I didn't like the consistency. Soo...I did what any recessionista would do, I added my Aussie Three-Minute Miracle Moisture Treatment. It was LOVE. I thought that I had felt "slip" before, but no, it was something that I had only read about.

While it was an amazing experience, I don't know if this will become my go-to conditioner. I like mixing, but my HG products should be amazing alone. Also, I pre-poo'd with some nice stuff, so I don't know if that was part of the reason for my wonderful results.
